Growing up in a small town in Punjab, Ashneer was a bright student with a passion for numbers. He went on to study engineering at IIT Delhi, and then went to the prestigious IIM Ahmedabad for his MBA. After graduating, he joined American Express, where he spent several years working in various roles.

 

However, Ashneer had always harbored a desire to start his own business. In 2011, he quit his job and started his first venture, a payment gateway called PayU India. At that time, the online payments industry in India was still in its infancy, and Ashneer saw a huge opportunity to build a company that could help merchants accept online payments.

 

The early days were tough. Ashneer had to bootstrap the company with his own savings, and he had to convince merchants to trust his payment gateway. But he persevered, and over time, PayU India became one of the leading payment gateways in India. The company raised several rounds of funding, and Ashneer was recognized as one of the most promising young entrepreneurs in the country.

 

However, Ashneer's entrepreneurial journey was far from over. In 2016, he left PayU India to start a new venture, a digital lender called Mobikwik. Once again, he saw an opportunity in a nascent industry – digital lending – and he set out to build a company that could make it easier for people to access credit.

 


The early days of Mobikwik were even tougher than PayU India. Ashneer and his team had to navigate a highly regulated industry, and they had to convince investors to back their vision. But once again, Ashneer's persistence paid off. Mobikwik became one of the fastest-growing digital lenders in India, and it raised over $100 million in funding.

 

Today, Ashneer is widely regarded as one of the most successful entrepreneurs in India. He has built two successful companies from scratch, and he has helped to shape the online payments and digital lending industries in India. But he remains humble and grounded, always looking for ways to improve himself and his businesses.

 

Ashneer's story is a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work. He had a dream, and he worked tirelessly to make it a reality. And even when faced with setbacks and obstacles, he never gave up. His story is an inspiration to anyone who wants to start their own business and make a difference in the world.
